What is rW?

Rust electricity is measured in rW (Rust Watts). Every powered component draws a fixed amount, sources like solar panels and generators produce it, and batteries store it as rW-minutes (rWm) to carry your base through the night.

Assumptions

Modeling assumptions, not game data — tune them to your server. Sun and wind rarely run at peak, so the plans count only a share of peak output.

Day / night cycle (min)
Our servers

Cycles our own servers run: PVE votes most nights away, Creative stays on permanent day. Editorial values — we update them when a server config changes.

Day/night defaults come from the game build.

Keep running while you sleep or work — the bank is sized for whichever is longer, the night or this.

Wiring tips
  • Root Combiners join root sources — solar panels, wind turbines AND battery outputs — and they chain, each one eating 1 rW. Combining two Large Battery outputs puts 200 rW on a single line.
  • An Electrical Branch takes a fixed cut off the main line — set the branch amount, the rest keeps flowing.
  • Our solar plan runs the day load straight off the panels and only cycles the night's energy through the battery — route everything through the battery and you need about 25% more panels.
  • Mount wind turbines as high as possible — height is the biggest lever on their output.
  • A Tesla Coil's listed draw is its full-damage maximum — budget the number on its tile. One 5 rW connection powers a whole linked elevator shaft; there is no per-floor cost.

Draw values come from game build 25823813. Solar and wind output swings with sun and weather — the plans assume 50 % and 50 % of peak on average.
