RustAddicted

Rust runs on interruptions. You are mid-farm, the horn sounds, and the whole server drops what it is doing — that is an event. This page is the complete field guide: every world event the scheduler can roll, every standing monument fight, the drops you trigger yourself and the holiday hunts Facepunch switches on a few weeks a year.

The sections below follow how an event starts, because that is the tactical difference: scheduler events find you, monument events wait for you, player-triggered events happen when you decide, and seasonal events follow the calendar.

Spec rows on the cards are read straight from decompiled game build 24253458 — community numbers stay in the text and never wear the build stamp. Vanilla defaults; modded servers tune them freely.

World events

8

Rolled by the in-game scheduler: after each one ends, the next re-arms on a random timer, so no two hours on the island look the same. Exact spawn windows are per-server prefab settings — treat any "every X hours" claim as a vanilla average, not a promise.

Patrol Helicopter — Rust event key artThreat

Patrol Helicopter

An armed helicopter sweeps the island on a random schedule, hunting players who look like trouble — guns out, kevlar on, or shooting first. Rockets and twin machine guns answer back.

How it starts

Scheduler-rolled. It patrols for up to 30 minutes, then leaves the map unless someone commits to the fight.

What it drops

Two locked heli crates with top-tier weapons and components, plus rotor and engine scrap off the wreck. The crates burn on landing — douse them or wait it out.

Cargo Ship — Rust event key artTransit Live

Cargo Ship

A scientist-crewed container ship circles the island and makes one stop at a harbor. Board it from a boat, clear the crew deck by deck, and hold on for the loot waves.

How it starts

Scheduler-rolled. Three loot rounds spawn crates ten minutes apart; the egress warning marks the last call before it sails off the map.

What it drops

Locked crates from the loot rounds, elite crates and scientist gear. Docking refreshes the loot — the harbor stop is the best boarding window.

CH-47 Chinook — Rust event key artTransit

CH-47 Chinook

A military twin-rotor flies in from the coast, picks a major monument and drops a hackable locked crate onto it — then the monument becomes the server's meeting point.

How it starts

Scheduler-rolled. Watch the flight path: the drop is decided when it starts circling a monument.

What it drops

One locked crate. Start the hack, then survive fifteen minutes of everyone on the map knowing exactly where you are.

Airdrop — Rust event key artLoot Live

Airdrop

A cargo plane crosses the island and pushes out a parachuted supply drop at a random point. The slow descent doubles as a server-wide dinner bell.

How it starts

Scheduler-rolled while enough players are online; a supply signal calls the same plane to a spot of your choosing.

What it drops

Military weapons, armor and components. No hack timer — first hands on the crate win.

Travelling Vendor — Rust event key artTransit

Travelling Vendor

An armored truck that patrols the roads selling rare goods for scrap, with a peacekeeper turret to keep the queue polite. Attacking it is a fast way to learn what the turret is for.

How it starts

Scheduler-rolled on maps with roads; it stops spawning in the final 24 hours before map wipe.

What it drops

Nothing to kill — bring scrap. The stock rotates every visit, from weapons to items you cannot craft.

Road Bradleys — Rust event key artThreat

Road Bradleys

The pre-wipe sendoff: a column of Bradley APCs spawns onto the road network and starts hunting. Two per kilometre of map size — a 4.5k map gets ten tanks at once.

How it starts

Fired ahead of forced wipe (and by admins). If the roads start rumbling on wipe eve, this is why.

What it drops

Every downed Bradley drops its usual crate haul — the fastest gear reset of the month, hours before it stops mattering.

Satellite Crash — Rust event key artLootNew

Satellite Crash

From the Power Trip update: a decommissioned satellite deorbits in a fireball the whole server sees, and the wreck lands hot — radiation and fire guard the debris field instead of NPCs.

How it starts

Scheduler-rolled. The descent is announced server-wide and the streak points at the crash site — expect company at the crater.

What it drops

Crates around the wreck plus a harvestable hull: tech trash, electronics and components without a single guard to shoot.

Deep Sea — Rust event key artTransit Live

Deep Sea

A rotating deep-ocean zone beyond the map edge: a floating city, scattered islands and ghost ships, reached through a portal that opens on a cycle. Building is blocked and swimmers do not survive the trip — bring a boat.

How it starts

The entrance portal opens for three hours, then closes for ninety minutes. Our live map shows the countdown to the next opening.

What it drops

Ghost-ship and island crates, plus one hackable crate per rotation in the floating city.

Monument events

4

Standing fights tied to a place on the map. They do not wait for a scheduler — the monument itself is the event, and the loot respawns on its own cycle.

Bradley APC — Rust event key artThreat Live

Bradley APC

The Launch Site groundskeeper: an autonomous armored vehicle with a cannon, a coax and zero patience for visitors on the tarmac.

How it starts

Always on duty at Launch Site. It respawns an hour after it dies — camp the timer if you want it twice.

What it drops

Three locked Bradley crates with high-end weapons and components. They burn on the spot — douse them or wait.

Oil Rig (Small) — Rust event key artLoot

Oil Rig (Small)

A compact offshore platform held by scientists, with a locked crate on the top deck. The fight is vertical — clear it level by level from the boat dock up.

How it starts

Standing monument. Starting the crate hack calls a heavy scientist response by boat — set your defense before you touch it.

What it drops

The locked crate, elite and military crates, and whatever the scientists were carrying.

Oil Rig (Large) — Rust event key artLoot

Oil Rig (Large)

The big sister: more decks, more scientists, more loot. Hacking the crate summons a Chinook that lands heavy scientists on the helipad.

How it starts

Standing monument. The heavy response is the real fight — the rig before the hack is just the warm-up.

What it drops

Locked crate, elite crates, keycard puzzle rooms and heavy scientist gear.

Underwater Labs — Rust event key artLoot

Underwater Labs

Procedural science labs on the ocean floor, patrolled by scientists. Enter by submarine or moonpool, work the keycard doors, and leave rich or leave wet.

How it starts

Standing monuments — every map rolls its own set of labs, and the crate rooms restock on their own cycle.

What it drops

Green, blue and red keycard rooms, elite crates and lab tech loot.

Player-triggered

1

Events you start yourself, on your own timing — which also means everyone nearby knows exactly who to blame.

Supply Signal — Rust event key artLoot

Supply Signal

A throwable smoke grenade that calls a personal airdrop onto your position. Cheap to buy, expensive to survive in the open.

How it starts

Player-thrown. The purple column reads from grids away — throw it where you can defend, not where you happen to stand.

What it drops

One supply drop from the same table as the plane's. The smoke burns about three and a half minutes — plenty of time for company.

Seasonal events

3

Server-side holidays Facepunch enables for a couple of weeks each year — no game update needed. Hunt rounds reuse the same 3-minute contest core with a different skin per season.

Easter — Rust event key artSeasonal

Easter

≈ 2 weeks in April

For about two weeks around Easter the island hosts egg hunts: painted eggs spawn around players and the best collectors win upgraded baskets, up to gold-egg rewards.

How it starts

Server-side flag Facepunch enables around the holiday. A hunt round fires on a timer and lasts three minutes — grab everything painted.

What it drops

Eggs crack into items; round winners climb the bronze → silver → gold egg ladder with escalating loot.

Halloween — Rust event key artSeasonal

Halloween

≈ late Oct – early Nov

Candy hunts on a timer, murderers and scarecrows in the fields, and portals into loot dungeons. The island gets darker for two weeks and the loot gets weirder.

How it starts

Server-side flag around Halloween. Candy rounds work like egg hunts — three minutes, top collectors win.

What it drops

Candy converts into items, hunt winners get upgraded buckets, and the dungeon portals hold the real prizes.

Christmas — Rust event key artSeasonal

Christmas

≈ mid Dec – Jan 1

Presents rain near players on a refill cycle, stockings restock indoors, Santa's sleigh does flyovers and an advent calendar pays out daily.

How it starts

Server-side flag from mid-December to New Year. Each refill drops presents for every player nearby — stay outside when the bells ring.

What it drops

Small, medium and large presents upgrade upward; the large ones hold end-game toys.

FAQ

How often does the Patrol Helicopter spawn in Rust?
On vanilla, the scheduler re-arms every world event on a random timer after the previous one ends — for the helicopter that is typically a couple of hours of server time, and the exact window is a per-server setting. Once up, it patrols for at most 30 minutes (game build 24253458).
How long does the Cargo Ship event last?
50 minutes on the map plus a 10-minute egress warning. It runs three loot rounds ten minutes apart and docks at a harbor for 8 minutes — all verified from game build 24253458.
How long does a locked crate take to hack?
15 minutes (900 seconds in the game code), and an untouched crate despawns after 2 hours. The timer is identical at Oil Rigs and under Chinook drops.
When do the seasonal events run?
Facepunch flips them on server-side: Easter for roughly two weeks in April, Halloween from late October to early November, Christmas from mid-December to January 1. No client update needed — servers just enable the flag.
Which events are live on RustAddicted servers right now?
The live board at the top of this page reads our servers' event feed — the in-game plugin reports every 5 seconds and this page refreshes each minute. Server pages and the live map show the same feed with exact positions.
Do modded servers change these events?
Yes — spawn schedules, loot multipliers and extra events are the whole point of modding. Our servers add custom events like shipwrecks, raid bases and tiered Bradleys and helicopters on top of vanilla, while core timers like the 15-minute crate hack stay untouched.
